I am honoured ion corina for your translations. I have a working reading knowledge of French. Now even Romanian is sounding more familiar.

Romanian originates in Latin as well as French, Spanish, Italian, Potuguese and other languages that aren't spoken anymore. That's why you can understand a little bit of Romanian. I saw you have translated one of your haikus in Spanish which is similar to Romanian. Italian is its Big Brother, if I may say so. French is our "second mother tongue". Before the communism fall all Romanian have spoken French as a foreign language and Rusian, of course. After the Revolution(in 1998) the tendency was to learn and speak English. There are a lot of foreign languages spoken in Romania now, but English is on top, followed by French. If you want, I'll write an essay about Romanian Language History in exchange of more of your language and religion.

Thank you ion corina. I am learning Spanish. So I have some familiarity with the Latinate tongues! Further I have been trying to read translations into Romanian on our site. Indo-germanic link is also invoked in some European languages like German, Dutch, Swedish etc.!

Thank you. You are free to post an essay on Romanian Language history on our site in the essays section, preferably in relation to Romanian poetry in general and haiku in partcular.
