ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டுகளும் மழைநீர்
ஊற்றுகளை போல பரவசமாக ஓடுகிறது

கடந்த கால நினைவுகளையும், வருங்கால
எதிர்பார்ப்புகளையும் சுமந்து புத்துணர்வுடன்
நோக்குகிறோம் நாம்.

ஆனால்,

கடந்த கால நிறைவேறா கடமைகளை
இவ்வாண்டிலாவது சிறிது நிரைவேற்றுவோம்

கடப்பது ஆண்டுகள் மட்டுமல்ல நம் ஆயுளும் தான்

இனிய புத்தாண்டு நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்

every year the rain-waters
like springs profusely flow

bearing the memories of the past 
and the hopes of the future
we perceive all with a new awakening.

but the bygone undone responsibilities
let's fullfill at least a little  this year


that which passes on, is not just the years
but our lives too.
